Mario Jay Carroll

Mario Jay Carroll, Political Science and Rhetoric - Double Major here at UC Berkeley. He is involved with Cal Camp because of the positive impact it has on the lives of disadvantaged youths in the local areas. Some of his other involvements include being President of Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc; a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council at Berkeley; a contributor to the programs of the M3 Foundation in Berkeley; and he is a graduate of the Institute for Responsible Citizenship in Washington D.C. In the future, he plans attend law school and obtain a Juries Doctorate Degree. He hopes to practice law for some period of time and then work in government. 


Brittany Chamber
Executive Director, 2008-2010
Brittany Chambers was born and raised in the Bay Area. She graduated from EXCEL High School at the McClymonds Educational Complex. After graduating from University of California Berkeley as an Anthropology major and Gender and Women’s Studies minor, she is now obtaining her Master degree in Social Welfare at Fresno State. Ms. Chambers worked for Cal Camp for the 4 years where she has served as Co-Executive Director in her last two years. Her objective is to work towards healthy choices and educational goals for at-risk youth in underserved communities. 


Nura Abdu
Program Director, 2008-2010
Nura Abdu is a graduating senior majoring in African American Studies with minors in Education and Global Poverty and Practice. She's been involved with Cal Camp since her second year of college. Nura continued to return to Cal Camp during her college years because she firmly believed that the organization successfully outreaches - in such a positive and uplifting manner - to the lives of underprivileged youth in our local communities. Career wise she aspires to earn a Masters in Business Administration and one day open up her own family business. Aside from her career she strives to always give back to youth in the community because they continue to inspire her by their drive and intelligence despite constant adversity. 


Alaina Neal
Volunteer Director, 2008-2010
Alaina Neal is a Senior majoring in Rhetoric and Minoring in African American Studies at University of California, Berkeley. She has enjoyed working with CAL camp for three years, starting off as an counselor and working as Volunteer Director for the past two year. Her favorite part of camp is the talent show where the campers get a chance to express themselves through song, dance and comedy. Upon graduation in 2011, Alaina plans to pursue a doctoral degree in the graduate school of education with the aspirations of working as a university professor.  


Branden Christopher Sigua
Assistant Volunteer Director, 2007-2010
Branden Christopher Sigua is a Senior majoring in the Rhetorical arts. He has worked with Cal Camp for three years as a counselor and a director. He values the experiences that the Cal Camp institution affords the campers as well as the experiences it affords the counselors in helping to facilitate this event. Upon graduation Branden is going to pursue a juris doctorate with the aim of becoming a lawyer who specializes in corporate as well as pro bono criminal law.
