Christina Jiang

Christina Jiang is currently a senior double majoring in Sociology and Ethnic Studies. She has been involved with Cal Camp since her freshman year in college. Started as a volunteering counselor, she now holds the responsibilities of running Cal Camp as the executive director. Currently, Ms. Jiang is working as the Program Coordinator for the California Long-Term Care Education Center where she coordinates educational services for SEIU-ULTCW members and individuals in the long-term care industry. For the past three years, she also has been working as an education consultant with Safe Passages at United for Success Academy (UFSA) where she supports different groups of middle school students. In addition, She was elected to be the Student Director for the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) Board of Education where she represented student voice for the nearly 48,000 Oakland youths. In 2007, she was appointed by the Mayor and City Council as one of the 25 youth commissioners, she was then elected to chair of the education committee.

She believes that enriched academics, career orientated guidance and youth empowerment are substantial to young people’s development. Over the past couple years, Ms. Jiang has work with different organizations that have helped her came up with useful solutions to youth issues such as lack of motivation and hope, minimal family support, and lack of student empowerment and involvement.


Leila Carranza
Program Director




Leila Carranza is currently a senior double majoring in Social Welfare and
Spanish major and minoring in Education.  She is from a small town in the
Central Valley, called Los Banos. Last year was her first year as counselor
and is now our program director. For the past three years, she has been an
outreach coordinator for DULCE, a diabetes awareness organization on
campus. Currently, she is a literacy tutor for BUILD at Rosa Parks
Elementary. In addition, she has been a volunteer at the East Bay Sanctuary
Covenant for the past two years. She is passionate about educating youth.
As well as educating under-served communities about resources that are
available to them.
